Three races left to seal fourth World Supersport title.

Kenan Sofuoglu may already be the most successful World Supersport rider in terms of titles and races won as well as podium finishes, but he is now just three races away from a record-extending fourth world title.

Since the last round at Sepang in early August, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider has been testing and claims significant improvements have been made to his engine.

“Since the last race I have done a lot of work, training hard almost every day for the past month, because we are near the end now and I want to get the title,” he says. “My body condition is at the top level right now so I cannot wait for the race. Also, the team has worked very hard and they have made many changes to have more power.

“We did a test around two weeks ago and the engine had a very big improvement, so this will be a big help for me during the Jerez race. I think the team, Kawasaki and me - everybody - have done their own jobs well over the summer break and now we are just looking forward to the race weekend.”

With just the Spanish, French and Qatari rounds remaining in 2015, 31-year-old Sofuoglu carries a championship lead of 13 points over Frenchman Jules Cluzel (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) and 28 points over American PJ Jacobsen (CORE’’ Motorsport Thailand). A maximum of 75 points are left on offer.

Sofuoglu’s championship fluctuations of 2015:

1. Phillip Island – 6th 10-point deficit to Cluzel
2. Buriram – 2nd 6-point deficit to Wilairot
